in Mac, where are the printer settings stored?

in Mac, where are the printer settings stored?

2015-12-20 by michael.mutmansky@...

Folks, I looked around for this but didn't see an answer... I have an old mac that died, and I want to pull the QTR settings for the printer off the harddrive. I have all the profile curves, but not the settings that are in the printer QTR interface box (you know, the place where the blending of the three curves occurs by putting in the curve, and the percentage of each that is used for highlights, mid-tones, and shadows).

Is it possible to get that from a file on the HD? It obviously needs to be stored somewhere, but I haven't found the location for this information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you mean OSX Printer Presets.
Well I know where they are but they are not easy to look at.

They are in:
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompresets ...
There are both Presets that are global and ones for a printer.

Roy,

Thanks for the information... Since I had other variables that changed, I decided to recreate the curves through a bit of trial and error. It seemed the best way so crack that nut.

This poses a possible feature request for the QTR and/or Print Tool programs... Develop a tool to automatically export all the relevant print information (QTR curves, blends, etc.) into a txt file or similar that can be placed in the same directory as the image file. That way, you can get back the settings later on even if you have changed computers (which was the case for me).
