QTR feeds too much roll paper

QTR feeds too much roll paper

2015-12-22 by ozwille@...

As a new member and a new user of QTR I've tried searching past posts for an answer to this issue, to no avail.

QTR 2.7.7, Mac OSX 10.9.5, Epson 4000 and Epson 7900

QTR has started feeding 11.5 inches of paper no matter how small the page size specified printing with either Print-Tool or Photoshop. This didn't start happening until the last few days. I haven't updated any s/w on this Mac recently. I've tried making the smaller page size the system default for OSX without effect.

Printing from a second Mac with QTR 2.7.7 and OSX 10.6.8, the correct amount of paper is fed using the same settings as on the first Mac.

Is there a setting or pref file I can change or discard to get QTR to print the correct amount of paper? Do I need to uninstall QTR and start over?

You will need to go through your print settings very carefully - somewhere, probably on the "Paper Handling" tab you will find that the Mac has defaulted to a different paper size. I've printed from Windows XP for years (and still do for most of my printers) but have recently started using my Macs for some things and find the Print setup to be almost impossible to use.

David, thanks for the reply.
I traced the problem to custom paper sizes I created for the roll media I've been using. QTR seems to have problems with non-printable margins I manually input, even though those margins are Epson's specified margins. The custom sizes seem to work if I leave the non-printable area at the QTR defaults.
