Black ink selector not working

I am on 10.8 with PS CS6. The black ink selector is greyed out. Any thoughts?

Your printer doesn't have black ink selection maybe??

Thank you for the reply. Apologies for all the questions even though i have done many searches before posting. New user.
Just to clarify if you could:
1. I have a 9600 with photo black ink and ready to switch to matte black ink. I thought the selector was to tell QTR what you have installed but now realize that it is there for printers with switching capabilities. Given that is QTR optimized using Photo or Matte black inks?
2. i am having difficulty printing using custom sizes. If i have a sheet of 24" x 44" paper and create a custom size as such, if the width of the paper is set to 44" and height to 24" it will not print. If i switch those values to 24" width and 44" height it will print but the orientation and where the image prints on the page is wrong.
Any insight would be appreciated.
