Help with calibration

I seem to have either forgotten something critical or something changed in a recent version. Currently using QTR 2.3.1 for Mac under OS 10.3.9 to build curves for Piezotone Museum Black, Selenium and Carbon Sepia on a 7600. I had some curves working quite nicely and then suddenly the density seemed to shift on me, so I am re-calibrating. I am following the "Calibration.rtfd" document and having problem at the point here: "Back to the 7500 example. We will use 50%. Edit the descriptor file, Run-Quad-Profile, creating the curve set curve-name. Print out the ink test pattern with this new calibration curve set in preparation for the next step." Well, it doesn't say how specifically to edit the descriptor file. Should I use default density or should I just limit K. After editing do I still print in "calibration mode", what curves to choose in the dialog etc. If I edit then use the previous curve I had working I get a page where only some of the patches print. Apparently the partioning is kicking in and messing up the excercise. I guess it really matters what curve descriptor you begin with. Help!
