Purge file

Hi.
If I were to use the purge_K .quad file in the epson4900 set as a templet could I simply swap the data from K to GRN or ORG and use those for purging the extra colors on that machine? That is using the Windows
version of QTR.
Also is it possible to just use the general methods and programs as used in the apple OS instead of the Win GUI?

Thanks,

Duane

You can also just make a new purge file to print in calibration mode with the RGB values. Just fill an area with R255 G0 B127 for the orange position or R255 G0 B191 for the green. Just make sure you save the file it's no embedded profile and print through calibration mode. (Windows QTRgui will
Load the default ink calibration image, but you can get to your own by opening it through the file meme). If it prints too heavy for the paper you can lower the ink limit slider to 60-80%, but the idea is to purge the ink so use any decent matte paper and it should be fine.

I am working on some profiling tools that will allow windows users to bypass the curve creation module in the QTRgui and just double click a qidf to install the profile/make the curves. It should solve the problems with not being able to make profiles with the 10 ink printers. I have it working for 8 inks, but just need some time time time to update it for 10inks...

Hope that helps,
Richard Boutwell

Thank you Richard. That is helpful.I just acquired the 4900 and it needed a lot of help to get it functional.
Given the costs involved with using the "official" cleaning methods and my patterns of use(6 mo on, 6 mo off),
I have to use other ways of handling things.QTR has been crucial as one of those ways. For me, in addition to it's monochrome RIP duties, it has multiple roles in overall maintenance.
Thanks again.
