Platen gap

Platen gap

2017-01-17 by 4zf3vehmqbyh7duk2bvea3rwvtr5tbjmw4spfr5s@...

Is there any way to change the platen gap when printing with the qtr software from Lightroom? I do this for baryta papers when using the Epson drivers to reduce scratches but can't find anywhere to do this with Qtr.

Thanks

Jas

You must change the platen gap on the printer itself.

Not sure which Epson you are on but I've always set a custom paper profile and set my platen gap there. Go to the menu on the printer and select a custom paper profile and set platen gap, width, drying time etc.

These issues were discussed here recently:

In the Epson driver you can also specify the paper thickness, but not in QTR (or at least not in Win). Roy said that he thought that the manual feed options in at least some Epsons assumed a thicker paper than the sheet feeder, although it's not documented anywhere. That would make sense as the manual feed is intended for thicker papers.

I am using the Epson p800. There is no reference anywhere in the manual to being able to change the platen settings on the printer itself, and I can't find such a setting when i got through the printer menu. However, there is a setting for "Thick Paper" which I may try.

the manual is online

"Advanced Media Control Options - OS X Select any of the available Advanced Media Control options to fine-tune the quality of your printouts. Color Density Adjusts the ink saturation level. Drying Time per Print Head Pass Pauses print head movement for up to 5 seconds after each pass to allow ink to dry. This lets you print with non-Epson media and avoid smearing the ink. 119 Paper Feed Adjustment Modifies the speed of the paper feeding to compensate for banding in the direction of the print head. Paper Thickness Lets you select the thickness of your paper or media. Platen Gap Adjusts the distance from the paper to the print head. (Use a wider setting if you are seeing edge marks or scuffs on your prints.)"

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
