Which would be a suitable densitometer for both black & white prints
(via QRIP) and negatives?

Try ebay for the following brands : Gretag Macbeth, Vipdens, X-rite, 
Tobias, Techkon or Agfa.
You can deal a B&W densitometer at ~100$ (pure K, not the CMYK which 
are more expensive).

And more confusing. At that point, you have to learn the difference
between a densitometer having "status A", "status E", "I", or "T"
filters built in, and figure out which of them is suited to your
particular purpose, or invest in a real photospectrometer, which gets
you up over $1000.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
