Confirmation on PiezoPro Inks

Confirmation on PiezoPro Inks

2018-06-23 by roscoetuff@...

Please forgive what appears an obvious question, but some of us just like to be 100% certain where we can:

So working through the details, the documentation for the P600 (which may be outdated because it's R3000 rather than separate), Epson refers to VLM and VM whereas Piezo refers to LM and M for the magentas.

Pretty sure we're talking about the same animals... only now "magentas" are now "Vivint", right?

The VLM stands for Vivid Light Magenta. The VM stands for Vivid Magenta. The formulations provided more robust colour. LM simply stands for Light Magenta. I hope this answers you question.

I assume this is in relation to your recent purchase of Piezo Pro inks. The instructions are really only referring to channels rather than inks. On some older printers (R2400, 3800) the channels are termed M and LM, whereas on later printers (R2880, R3000, 3880) they are labelled VM & VLM because Epson 'improved' magenta by making it more vivid. This distinction is of no consequence for Piezo users, you can ignore the V and just focus on the M and LM as channel designators for ink placement.

Just going through the details. Yes, this is helpful. Thanks! This is my re-expression of the documentation. Maybe it will help someone else besides yours truly:

Brian: You're right. Just making out my own docs so I don't accidentally fill the wrong slot with the wrong cartridge, the wrong ink in the wrong cartridge. Thanks!

I suspect that the question was likely made in order to suggest that that particular forum might be more informative regarding your query.

Hello,

You are right to be cautious. Not only do the the M/LM chips not work under the VM/VLM control chips. I destroyed many M/LM chips by inserting them in the VM/VLM slot before realizing they were incompatible.

Paul:

You address a detail I'd missed. THank you. I want to be clear that the P600 Cartridge kit that Inkjetmall sells does come with VL and VLM cartridges (aka "Chipped" cartridges therefore match). So that part's clear. But you make a good point that folks shouldn't use the wrong cartridge in the right slot. I think I would have missed that so thank you for your post.

So the objective is to get the right ink in the right cartridge, and the right cartridge - with the right one-to-one corresponding chip on that cartridge - into the right slot on the machine.

This means the squishy part is the ink refers to an older set of cartridges rather than those used on the P600.
Small annoying details. I'm changing my table around to reflect this. Thanks!

"chipped cartridges"

Unless I'm mistaken Inkjet Mall do not sell the Epson chips, only control chips which reset the underlying Epson chips to empty. If I am mistaken I have wasted a lot of time and energy over the last few years foraging for used Epson cartridges.

So if I'm not mistaken then you have to find a set of Epson chips and if you place an M chip under a VM control chip into the printer you could burn it and I think possibly the printer slot as well.

But as someone else has suggested you should verify this on the peizography forum.

Good luck

Paul

Paul:

Inkjetmall does sell chips for the P600 cartridges. Don't know about the other printers.
I will post this on their blog once I get it all finished. Thanks!

This question has been asked several times on the community inkjetmall forum as a quick search there will attest.

VM, VLM are brand-specific. M and LM are more universal names for just channel positions when denoting location.

Walker
