Anyone Running Piezography Inks in their 11880?

2018-06-21 by cj@...

Hi Everyone,

I've spent the last couple of months trying to get everything needed to convert my 11880 to InkJetMall's Piezography inkset. 3rd party cartridges were a complete bust, and the one style of chip decoder I have installed still required oem cartridges in order to work. I have seen another style of chip decoder available, but am unsure if it will lead me to the same problem as the first one I tried. I see the 11880 with K7 inkset listed in QTR - what am I missing here?

Has anyone out there done this? I've documented my trials and tribulations on the Inkjetmall forum, but am feeling a bit stuck. Is there a secret?

Thanks all,

CJ Heyliger

Because the head is exactly the same (nozzles) as the 9890, etc, we were able to produce the curves for this printer without the printer present. (BTW, I know the ink output is the same because I ran the 11880s and 9900s with QTR using the same curves for about a decade before coming to IJM.)

There are non-US 11880s out there that do work with third party carts (I saw a few in China, and a few in South America) but so far I do not know if anyone has gotten it going in North America.

If I had an 11880 in-house I would work on the solution (and work on getting the chip decoder factors to make better chip decoder boards) but we do not have the space or market for this model at the moment.

Best regards,
Walker
