I'm making a curve for Entrada Fine Art Natural for UT7 ink on a 2200. When I print the calibration mode pattern page I get this mottled look from the mid tones up to 100. K is OK but all the lighter shades have this almost camouflage pattern of light and dark spots. Any idea what would cause this? I'm on a PC and nozzle checks are fine. Thanks, Tom

I've seen mottling when the ink load was too high. Are you pushing the light inks too far? You might try tweaking the parameters to substitute more of the next darker ink. -- Ciao, Paul D. Thanks Paul. I'm seeing this on the Ink Pattern Page where you characterize the ink paper combination and there's really no ink load adjustment. You start at 100 mode and determine when the ink maxes out. The mottling was there even after I printed the second page at 75. It starts around 40 and runs all the way to 100. I wonder if it's the ink paper combination? I didn't see it with Kayenta. Tom Paul D. DeRocco wrote:

But that's the only situation in which I've seen anything I'd call mottling. And even then, it was at the dark end of the scale, and very subtle. Also, I saw it on an RC paper (Epson Semigloss, I think). I don't know the Entrada paper, but if that's a matte paper, then I doubt it's an ink load issue, either. -- Ciao, Paul D. Tom, Have you tried a nozzle alignment? I was suprised on my 2200 how far it was out of alignment straight out of the box. Just a guess. Good luck. Josh --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Paul D. DeRocco" <pderocco@i...> wrote:
