banned/blocked

banned/blocked

I got an email from Ann (montauklady) saying she is either banned or blocked from posting in this group--I don't believe she can even get on the page for the group. She mentioned that she had been setting up an email blocker and wondered if it was related to that--but can still read and post on the DigitalB/W Print group--so that doesn't make any sense. Anyone know about this?--I'm going to try and send Scott (as moderator) her email also.

She can probably log in to the group's home page, mosie around there
until she finds her own preferences. Somewhere along the line her
"blocker" probably started rejecting mail from the group. The group
software replies with a tit-for-tat and then blocks her address ...
until she does a "confirmation routine". She activates a confirmation
request from her page and then replies to it from her email address once
it reaches her.

That's my guess anyway.

Further--I've been wondering if yahoogroups drops members whose email has bounced? I looked at the list of members on QTR list and don't find her at all. I suggested she try and resub for one solution.

I was blocked after two bounces once. I believe Yahoo states that
somewhere in their TOS.
I had to resub.

It doesn't "drop" them. It puts them on hold, on ice, so to speak.

Then the list manager has to go in and initiate a reconfirmation, or the
one who has been put on hold has to log in and initiate one themselves
(they can do it themselves).

Yahoo does get sticky about bouncing addresses. But they are not banned,
just blocked until the mail works again (and has been confirmed to do so).

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
