Epson 2100 / 2200 printer & quadblack inks from mediastreet

2006-02-16 by nil28jj61

i am trying to set up an epson 2100 printer with mediastreet quadtone
inks and quadtonrip. The rip software seems to work fine but the inks
do not dry fast enough on glossy or lustre papers, resulting in very
visible print spoiling stripes in the direction of the paperflow, due
to the rear feeding rolls of the printer.

Does any one have an idea to avoid these stripes?

matte looks also nice but some things would be preferred on glossy
paper. Would like to mke up my mind before getting to the states on
22nd as i plan for an continious flow ink system.

There is a trick that 2200/2100 users do to solve this
problem with zip ties trimmed to 3/8" long. Push up
the wheels with the CD bar (on the left side just
above the wheels) and insert the shortened tail of the
zip tie right above each wheel. This will prevent the
wheels from making contact with the print and leaving
tracks. I think MIS supply has a picture of the trick
(and will sell you trimmed ties if desired) if this
isn't clear.

Good Luck!
