Mac Tiger, 2200, QTR network printing... Possible?

Mac Tiger, 2200, QTR network printing... Possible?

2006-02-24 by michael_mutmansky

Folks,

I have a new Mac computer, and I am trying to set up QTR to print through a wireless printer
server on my network. This arrangement works fine on my PC, but I am somewhat at a loss
to get it to bring up the QTR dialogue box when printing on the Mac computer.

Is it possible to print through the print server, or do I have to have a direct connection to get
QTR to work properly? I saw a warning when I attempted to install the profiles that the
printer was not found, and it suggested using the ISS script to install for network printing,
but there doesn't appear to be one for the 2200.

Do I need to plug the printer into the computer to install, and then pull set the driver to use
the printserver after?

Any help is appreciated,

---Michael

Hi Michael,

Are you trying to use the USB port on the Airport? Or in this some
other kind of print server?
I know the Airport USB can be used -- see Bonjour info in the
Tutorial.pdf

Roy,

No, this is through a Linksys (Cisco) wireless network, with a Linksys print server plugged into the printer (via USB). As I said, I can print using QTR with the Windows XP computer on the network just fine. I understand that these are really two different implementations of the program though, so I understand if there may be a limitation that keeps it from working properly on the Apple.

The Apple sees the printer properly (I think), but since the printer is not plugged into the USB port, I don\u2019t think the profile install program is installing the files, because it reports that I should be trying to use the other install program, which does not appear to exist for the 2200.

I\u2019ll look into the Bonjour info, and see if that will apply for my situation.

---Michael
