I recently updated my QTR software and went from PS7 to CS2. I just created a new profile for museum etching using the curve eval program like always. I created the profile but when clicking "Install Profile" I now get the message "This is not a valid color profile". Any ideas on what is going on? I am using Windows XP. Thanks, Jenny

You can just copy the profile into the proper folder, probably Windows/System32/Spool/Drivers/Color/. There is something about the profile that Windows profile installer doesn't like. In all other respects it works fine. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

I copied the profile into that folder but it still doesn't show up in my pulldown list in PS. Hmmmm.

Did you restart PS? It only looks for profiles when it starts up. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

However, I didn't notice that it listed the profiles -- they were just way out of order and not alphabetized like the rest of them. Thanks for your help! Jenny

The other possibility is that the QTR ICC doesn't have a "description." That's what PS shows in the list, not the file name. This can cause a bit of trouble if you have two (or more) ICC's with the same description. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Photoshop groups by type and then sorts them. The grayscale ones are at the bottom.
