Understanding some details

Understanding some details

2006-03-13 by dougkoontz

I am not sure I understand the "details" of this. Are you replaing the color inks in the 1280
with a set of B&W inks so that you can not print color at all without replacing the ink cart.
and flushing out the inks?

I realize a new printer would be nice but at the moment a new printer is not going to
happen. I have way to many other high end items to purchase.

So I am looking for a way to print with what I have.

Give me you best sugestions please.

Doug,

You are correct in your understanding. You would have to use dedicated
B&W ink carts to create quality B&W prints. With the older printers, I
believe you'd have to flush the heads in between color and B&W
inksets. Some of the inks, such as the Cone inks, are now compatible
with Epson inks, reducing the need to flush the heads, however, I
believe that's only the case with the Epson pigment inks.

You might try to find a used printer on eBay, or the like, to get your
2nd printer -- much cheaper option than a new one. Unfortunately,
other than ink swap, there are no other inexpensive options.
