Curves for glossy and semiglossy paper

Curves for glossy and semiglossy paper

2006-04-25 by bruno_foessel

Hello,

I'm completely new with the QuadtoneRIP and would like to print some
tests before I begin to learn making my own curves.
I've got a 9800 with UC-inks on a Mac G5 with MacOSX 10.4.6.
I installed the QTR version 2.4.1
The 4 preinstalled curves are only for matte paper.
Does anybody have some curves (9800 UC) for glossy or semiglossy paper?

Thanks for help

Someone correct if I'm wrong, but I believe the QTR is only for matte paper. Joachim

Of course you are wrong, happily :-). QTR works for any type of paper. You
must have appropriate inks and have (or create) the appropriate curves. For
example, there are a number of curves for the Epson 2200 for a variety of
glossy and semi-gloss papers, as well as matte papers.

Unfortunately there are not as many curves available for the more modern
printers such as the 2400 or 9800. I presume they will come with time.
However, the number of ink and paper options are also increasing
dramatically, so finding a curve for a particular combination of ink and
paper you like may be getting less likely.

Thank you. I amaze myself how often I am wrong in this world. The occasional
"right" makes life worth living. I appreciate your pointing me in a
direction I did not realize existed. Joachim
