QuadBlack inks now available

QuadBlack inks now available

2005-05-05 by Richard Wolfson

QuadTone RIP users might like to know I've made curves for printing b&w
images with the new Generations QuadBlack ink set. I designed those inks
for Media Street, and Norm Levy said yesterday they just started filling
orders for the inks.

So far I've released curves for the Epson R200 printer ($99 list, up to
letter size prints). It makes superb b&w prints on RC luster paper with
photo black ink, and on matte & fine art papers with matte black ink.

I've posted curves at www.richardwolfson.com/quadblack with other info
too. So far there are curves for G-Chrome Lustre plus several matte
papers. I'll be making curves for more printers soon, and I expect the
Epson 2200 will be next. Since the 2200 has 7 channels, it will hold
both blacks and switch between RC and matte prints any time.

I'll do my best to respond to questions about these inks and how to make
b&w prints with them. Please feel free to post questions on this list or
contact me by email.

Question For Wolfson Re: QuadBlack inks now available

2005-05-07 by Shilesh Jani

Richard,

Thank you for this message. I have looked at your website, which
includes some more information.

Obviously you have found that QTR curve creation is not easily
capable of split-tone. Would you be willing to share (sell) the
curve creation software you have created?

I was a little surprised that the "platinum" split-tone profiles in
your system uses all gray inks. I would have thought it would use
only black, cool dark gray, and warm light gray. Unless of-course
the cool and warm inks by themselves are too heavilyly toned. Can
you provide some more information?

Best regards.

Shilesh
