Pink prints

Help! I just downloaded quadtone and ran a few test prints, all of 
which are black and pink. Is this because I haven't yet paid for the 
software?  If so, how can I judge whjether it's right for me?

What printer, paper and ink are you using?  I m assuming you selected the correct printer name, printing model and curves to match the paper you re using. QTR

I'm using an Epson 1270 with an ARC-T007 MIS black cartridge.  (The
color cartridge is Epson.)  Enhanced Epson Matte paper.  For curves I
chose 
UT2-EEnhMatte-carbon-1.  There's only one choice for my printer:
Quad1270-UT2.  I hope that helps.

I think the problem is your Epson color cartridge.  QTR needs all black and gray ink.  Like the MIS UT2 inks. Honestly I m not sure if the UT2 carts will work

I was afraid it might be something like that.  I'd better get in touch 
with the MIS folks on Monday and get it all straightened out.

To use QTR and the 1270 you must have installed a complete set of UT2 inks
(at least to use the existing UT-2 curves for that printer). The 2200 and
some other UC printers can be used with colour inks, but not the 1270.

As suggested by Tom Husband, you could try BO printing. Clayton Jones has a
website with an excellent set of articles on BO (black only) printing. I'm
not sure who satisfactory the 1270 would be with this approach.
