QuadToneRIP version 2.4.2 released, Mac & PC

QuadToneRIP version 2.4.2 released, Mac & PC

2006-06-28 by Roy Harrington

QuadToneRIP version 2.4.2 Release Highlights

Mac OS X enhancements:
The Mac version now fully supports the Intel-Mac machine with Univeral Binaries.
I.e. it runs native on both PowerPC and Intel machines.

The Install scripts on the Mac now support both USB and network printers with the
same scripts -- no separate ipp scripts are used any longer.

Support for the whole printer family: R200, R220, R300, R320, R340 printers

New profiles for Neutral K7 ink printers: 4800, 1280/1290.

The QTR-Create-ICC & Linearize-Data tools now recognize the column headings
RGB or RGB_R as well as Gray. This allows standard 8 bit data values 0-255,
0-black, 255-white. The 0-100 Gray steps will be calculated from this.

Roy, thanks for the information. For those of us that still use
the "old" Create-ICC based on Lab values, it's my understanding the
release will not add new features except potential extra precision
based on 0-256 values instead of 0-100%. Am I correct ?

There's no change in the old functionality. The change is for device
reading
software that outputs 8-bit RGB numbers instead of Gray percents.
Precision isn't really different since you could have Gray = 37.875 if
you wanted to.
All the numbers allow decimal values.

Re: [QuadtoneRIP] QuadToneRIP version 2.4.2 released, Mac & PC -- Mac users

Minor update on the Mac 2.4.2 release:

The 2.4.2 release has new profile install scripts and a search path was
missing
resulting in a "quadprofile: command not found" error.

I've fixed it, there's a new download on QTR website. It's 2.4.2b
-- make sure you see the "b".
Just download and use these profile installs. The rest of release is
unchanged.

Hello

The newest version of QTR allows entering RGB_R
readings for linearization. My densitimeter gives
these readings but I am wodering what the actual text
document should like so i can throw that data in the
QTR-Create-ICC & Linearize-Data tool. Thanks a bunch
if someone can help out.
