Warming Up Prints

2006-07-20 by stephen_gary_jennings

I just switched from using an Epson 1280 with Warm Neutral PiezographyBW ICC inks on
Hahn Photo Rag to an Epson 2200 using NK7 inks on Hahn Photorag. I'd like to recreate the
warm tones I previously got on the new setup and I understand it has to do with mixing
curves, but I'm not sure. Any and all help is appreciated.

My understanding is that the inks are fixed tones. You can't "warm them up" because there's no toner. All you can do is use a warmer paper which will in turn warm up the print. From InkJetMall:

Stephen,

Its true, you warm up K7 Neutral by changing papers. You could use
Innova Cold Press Art to get the same warm neutral look or Bradford
Natural White.

Wait a couple weeks and you can switch all or some of the ink
cartridges out for Sepia K7. We released this new ink for large format
on Monday. They have the exact same densities as the Neutral K7 to
ease split-toning.
