eliminating blue/green cast on B&W Epson 2200

2006-09-27 by ileanafg

Hi:
I have just purchased and downloaded the quadtonerip software in order to be able to print
two black and white prints for an upcoming exhibit. Here is a very basic question: on the
page setup box (Print with Preview) I don't have the quad2200 option in the format section .
I also cannot access the quadtoneRIP dialog pane. Working set up: dual PowerPC G5, OSX
10.3.9
I appreciate your help in figuring this out!

QTR is not accessible through Photoshop - you have to access it
independently of PS.

See http://www.harrington.com/QuadToneRIP.html

and read the Tutorial referred to.

I read the tutorial and installed the printer driver I was missing--thanks! I can now access
the RIP settings and have configured them exactly as recommended in the tutorial.

Unfortunately, my test prints have a very strong magenta/purple cast. I am using the MIS
Continous Flow inks for the 2200/7600 and I installed the Quad2200-UT7 driver. I am
using the UT7-EEnhMatte-Cool and UT7-EEnhMatte-Warm in a 90-10 Blend hoping for a
cool output. It doesn't seem to matter what I use for the curve settings, the strong
magenta cast does not appear to change much. I have cleaned/checked the nozzles and
all appears to be well.

Is there something else I might be missing? Thanks for any help.

Optimally, you will probably have to create a custom curve for the MIS inks.
Minimally, perhaps experiment with ink color adjustments in the Epson driver
after you have accessed it through QTR.

Are you using the MIS UT7 inks? They have several inksets for the 2200.
