R800/R1800 with Epson Premium Glossy

Hi. I downloaded the trial version of QTR this afternoon and i'm really pleased with the neutral greys it enables me to print with my R800, using Epson inks on Epson paper. (The only time i got this close was after buying a custom profile, but after just a couple of cartridge changes, neutral grey was a thing of the past.) I thought all my prayers had been answered with QTR. Having successfully printed some images on Enhanced Matte paper (the only paper there are ready-made curves for) i thought i'd try a print on Premium Glossy. (Call me old-fashioned, but i like the rich blacks that glossy prints provide.) So off i go, only to realise that the gloss differential is just too noticeable to be acceptable. Back to this message group, and i discover that some people are overprinting with MIS glop. I can do that easily enough with my Epson glop. Not bad. Then (at last) i notice the BIG problem -- the ink is smudging really badly, with or without the glop overspraying. Back to this message group again, and i discover that this is a problem several people have encountered, but which nobody seems to have a solution for. It seems to come about as a result of the fact that QTR only uses the matte black ink, which doesn't sit well on the gloss surface. So my question is this . . . Is there a solution to the smudging problem with Premium Glossy, or do i have no alternative but to use matte or fine art papers if i want to print with QTR? Thanks. and happy printing graham
