Problem with 11x17 on 4800

Problem with 11x17 on 4800

2006-11-24 by michael_mutmansky

I am having a problem...

QTR will automatically rotate the paper orientation 90 degrees from
how I have it set in the GUI right after I hit the 'print' button.
It is causing the printer to print the image in the wrong location on
the paper and rotated incorrectly. For some reason, I can't seem to
get it to stop doing this.

I normally print with 17" rolls on the 4800, and have had no problems
printing in this manner. However, I have some testing I want to do,
and wish to avoid using the cutter and more media than is necessary,
so I figured I'd use 11x17 cut sheets.

To that end, I cut a sheet to 11x17 and tried to print using
the 'tabloid' size and also the 'custom' size with both paper
orientations. It seems that it is forgetting the orintation change
that I put it to get the image on the paper in the proper orientation
and location.

It does seem to remember the location changes, but not the
orientation change.

Is this a bug, or is there something going wrong with my input?

Thanks,

---Michael

Further notes on this...

The image I'm trying to print is a long narrow step wedge file, and it appears that it is
attempting to orient it with the long axis of the paper. I have tried a few other imges, and it
doesn't appear to autorotate with them when I hit the print button.

I've successfully printed this before on long sheets of paper when I was testing a paper this
spring, so I am at a bit of a loss as to why I can't get it to print properly now.

I tried printing back on the roll, and it appears to be doing it with that as well, so I don't
think it is the paper, but the image file dimensions or proportions that are causing the
problem. Anyone have any suggestions?

I was using 2.4.2 (on a PC), but have upgraded to the current version to see if that fixed the
problem. Haven't tried it on my Mac.
