Auto rotate function from roll feeder

Auto rotate function from roll feeder

2007-02-04 by cosmoelsol

All,

I am new to this group and just started to use QuadtoneRIP. So far, I
am quite impressed my the neutral prints from my Epson Pro 7600 using
QuadtoneRIP.
However, I am wondering if there is a way that I can print A2 format
from 24'' roll feeder horizontally? I know that you can select portrait
or landscape, but at the end Quadtone always print the picture
vertically from roll, no matter whether you set the image in landscape
or portrait.
When I print out from CS2 with the Epson driver in roll feeder mode, I
have the function of auto rotating. What this means is, if I have a
roll of 24'' and print in A2 the auto rotate will flip the A2 image
horizontally so that no paper is wasted and less cutting is required.

Any hints or advices are welcome.

Thanks,
Thai

You need to create a paper size that is horizontal. I.e. instead of
width = 16in
and length = 24, must be width = 24 and length = 16in.

The way to think of it is:
width is always across the width of the printer.
length is always the feed direction.
Then "portrait" is always straight out,
"landscape" is always rotate 90 degrees.

Sheet feed is a different issue. You need to select the same feed mode on both
the printer console and in the QTR printer page.

im having nightmares with this as well sorry.
so we create a custom paper that is 24x20m instead of 20x24 (the default)
im printing on 24" roll on the 7600
so do i use portrait or landscape?
it always seems to print portrait even with the custom paper selected.
or it wont print complaining about an illegal image size..

The rule to go by: The width of any custom paper size is always the width of the roll of paper in the printer.

Everything else works after that.
