Using the 1270 as a B&W Printer

I would like to set my Epson 1270 Printer up as a B&W Printer using the Quadtone RIP. Do I need just the MIS UT2 Eboni Cartridge to replace the Epson black cartridge or do I need to also buy the 5 shade cartridge to replace the color cartridge. Does anyone have any experience using their 1270 as just a B&W Printer? Thanks for any help! Mary
