QTR - first steps

Hello, Should the first step in using QTR (if not using the canned profiles) be to do the ink limit calibration using one of the exampleinks profiles as a template? And should you then use the icc profile generated (using Create ICC) as the soft proof profile as well as the print profile in the "Print" menue? I realize this may seem obvious, but I'm a little turned around after trying things. Pat
