QTR K7 Neutral Profiles for Split Tone Ink Set?

QTR K7 Neutral Profiles for Split Tone Ink Set?

2007-06-01 by mtuttle93

I am using QTR 2.5.1 with the K7 Split Tone ink set and have just finished reflective
densitometer readings on eight papers that I have where K7 Neutral profiles have been
provided.

In all eight papers I am finding a 'stalling' in the curve, where the readings at the 75%, 80%
and 85% ink swatches are within .01 or .02 of being the same ( for example all 1.39 on
Moab Kayenta Photo Matte). While the actual density numbers are different for each paper
the grouping remains the same .... essentially the curve stalls at a flat spot and then
continues up starting at the 70% swatch.

The nozzles check fine, and it is a consistent shape among the papers. Gamma 2.2 was
used, letting the printer control the color in the preview box (OSX 10.4.9).

If the profiles are for the neutral K7 ink set is it possible that by mixing the two inks on
the same curve it is showing that the neutral black inks lay differently in the shadows than
the warm tone inks lay from the 70% and less tones?

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark Tuttle

Fixed by reloading the QuadTone RIP software and reinstalling the K7 profiles. The Split
Tone Sepia-Neutral K7 inks print with the same density as the Neutral set.
