R1800 + K7

R1800 + K7

2007-06-14 by rudedogphoto

I have new, never used R1800 dedicated for B&W printing. Installed Piezo K7 set but all ink
lights are red and steady red ink light on printer panel. I have not been able to build curves,
profile, or create first print. Any ideas from this group of experts?

Not sure if I'm an 'expert', but here is my feedback

1. the QTR download has a variety of K7 paper profiles that were
created by John Cone / Inkjet mall. Use them until you've got basic
operations figured out. There are curves for Epson, Hanamuhle, Innova
and other papers. Work with them to get your workflow established
before trying to create new curves.

2. Not sure if you are using carts or a continuous ink system, but if
every ink light is on, then my best guess is that you don't have them
seated completely. I read something on the Piezography website
yesterday about the new carts they are using are difficult to seat.
The ink light on the panel will stay solid red if it senses any of the
carts being empty. The red lights on the ink carts indicate the cart
is empty, which is caused by the cart being empty or not seated
completely. After you've reseated the carts, push the front ink panel
button. It will re-read the carts and reset the status if appropriate.

3. If you still don't have any luck, you 'might' have defective
carts. Call inkjet mall. They are very helpful. I had a couple of
really nasty ink problems they helped me sort out. Great group of people.

Hope that helps.

Mike, thanks a mil for the info and your time spent.

I installed K3 inks, made color prints, and then reinstalled Piezo K7 inkset. Now, instead
of all seven K7 "ink lights" illuminating, only two ink lights (Magenta and Photo Black) now
light up. Still "no joy" from the R1800/QTR/Piezo K7 experience.

I'll reinstall K7 inks today (for the 4th or 5th time) and if no luck, I'll contact InkJet Mall or
send inks back to Adorama Camera.

Thanks again for your help.
