All of the profiles for the Epson 1270 are for MIS black ink sets. Does anyone have profiles for the Epson inks, on various papers, but especially Enhanced Matte, Matte Paper Heavy- Weight, Hanhamuhle Photo Rag, that they would share with me?

The QTR curves are designed for the black ink sets. Epson ink for the 1270 is color and has only one black. QTR isn't designed for this set up and won't work. Maybe I mis-understood your question. I'm totally new to QTR, and I thought that since it works with the Utrachrome ink set, which has only 2 blacks, that it would work with the 1270 also. I thought that QTR uses color inks to make a balanced or neutral grayscale. Is this not correct? Chris --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Tom Husband" <tom.husband@...> wrote:

It's just that there isn't much benefit over just using the Epson driver and black-only printing. Roy

Roy: Your reply really leaves me quite confused. My limited (and a long time ago) experience with "black only" E1270 printing was a total disaster. For one, there is the coarse dot problem (same problem as for cyan and magenta) without a light black ink. Secondly, there is the color problem of the black ink-not being black. I thought you could achieve different hued monochrome prints on the E7600. I don't think this can be done by just blending K and light K. Therefore, you have to use some color ink. QTR must indeed be accessing the various "color" cartridges with the stock Epson UC inks. And if it can do this on the E7600, then certainly it could (should) be able to do the same on the E1270. Or am I missing something here?
