QTR+UT7 Inks+2200 - Mysterious Problem Here

QTR+UT7 Inks+2200 - Mysterious Problem Here

2005-07-05 by SteveZ

QTR experts I need your help.

Today I just started using UT7 inks with QTR and I'm baffled by the
vertical and horizontal banding I'm experiencing with the 2200 on
EEM. Now....when I use Paul Roark's worflow/curves with the Epson
Driver the banding disappears and the prints turn out great.

Weird huh?

Is this a QTR problem? A 2200 problem? An inkset problem?
I believe I'm using the correct UT7 Curves for QTR as generously
provided to me by Daniel Staver but I wouldn't think that would be a
factor.

Any suggestions?

I would also like to add that the prints made using QTR/Ut7 Curves
turn out much richer and overall much better (except for the banding)
than using the Epson driver, which is really frustrating for me.

I'm not a UT7 inkset user, but (1) are you getting good nozzle
checks? (2) can you print a successful image without QTR?

Yes, Scott, using Paul Roark's workflow/curves there is no banding
that I can see. That's what's confusing me.

Ok, I'm going out on a limb until more knowledge folks recover
from Independence Day :-) But have you tried different QTR
"Resolution" and "Speed" settings on some smaller prints (just tests,
after all) and seen if the banding is happening uniformly?

Re: QTR+UT7 Inks+2200 - Mysterious Problem Here

2005-07-05 by SteveZ

Scott, I've made several small test prints adjusting the gamma and
ink limits and I've done the nozzle check/cleaning several times and
the test pattern comes out looking perfect, but now that you mention
it, I should try printing using those controls you mentioned, don't
know why I didnt think of that myself, I suppose I didn't think it
would matter. Anyway, I'm going to try that and report back to the
forum here. Hopefully that'll work.

Thanks for you help, Scott.
