QTR version discrepancy and page setup issue
2007-08-13 by John Breedlove
Hello QTR users, In Page Setup I select Format for Quad1290-K6 but the paper sizes don't show any centered versions like the ones mentioned on page 8 of the mac printing tutorial PDF quoted here: > Page Setup is as usual. By selecting Format for a Quad printer you > can see > all the built-in page sizes for the printer. Select the desired > Paper Size and > the Orientation - see feed icon for Portrait or Landscape. > Page sizes and image centering have very often been a source of > frustration. > One of the main sources of the problem is the difference between > the physical > page dimensions and the printable page dimensions. Some Epson > printers > typically have a mechanically imposed page margin restriction and > it is usually > larger at the bottom than on the other three sides. This results > in the > printable area not being centered on the physical page. However, > it is the > printable area that is used for all the high-level positioning > algorithms. The Paper Size pull down selection > is now a > two level selection. When selecting a page size be sure to drag down to the > desired size and also to drag right to select which version of > printable area you > want. However Photoshop's handling of print margins has changed between CS2 and 3, so I don't know if it is an issue any longer. Also the version shown in the page setup dialog says: QuadToneRIP 2.4 Epson 1290 while the actual version I installed was 2.4.3 according to the installer (Install-QTR-2.4.3.pkg). Yet when I dig into the system HD/Users/homefolder/Library/Printers/Quad1290-K6 and run the get info command from the finder the window says version 4.6. Any thoughts? Regards, John Breedlove QTR v?
