Has anyone had any problems with baning on the thier prints when using Quadtone RIP. If so
let me know how you fixed it. Thank you.

Are you talking about microbanding which is visable under a loupe or
macrobanding which can easily be seen? What work flow are you using?
I've had no problems using Paul Roark's 3MK, 4K or 4K+cm work flows on
my R1800 with QTR. I haven't tried to profile the standard R1800 K
and pK inks using QTR.

Are you using thicker paper than usual (which can not feed evenly thus
creating "macro"banding)

Assuming you are getting perfect nozzle checks then cleaning the
underside of the print head (using cleaning solution and papertowels)
and cleaning the print head station to remove dried/excess inks are
the next steps that have cleared up banding on my 1280s and 1160s in
the past.

btw, always good to hear from another JeffERy.

Jeff,
I am using Ultra Crome Epson Inks supplied with
the printer, Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss paper, Ink
Jet Heads are clean as this only happens when I use
QTRip, and the banding is very visable on the paper,
not micro banding needing a loupe to see it. I finally
get neutral B&W prints but the image looks really bad
with the banding issue I am having. I am using
Photoshop CS2 on a Apple Macbook Pro Intel chipset
laptop to print. Thanks for the reply.

Jeff

2200 HPR profiles

2007-09-11 by Stephen Jennings

I've been printing on my 2200 using NK7 inks for a long time, and I
just developed a clog that won't go away. I've decided to switch
over to Epson Ultrachrome inks to try to clear it out, and I also set-
up QTR for printing with them, but I discovered that there are no
profiles for Hahn Photo Rag. Where can I get them?

You could try here:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/QuadtoneRIP/files/Curves/Epson%202100-2200/

I didn't see Photo Rag but another matte curve might work.

Thanks John. I'll give it a try.

RE: [QuadtoneRIP] Epson R1800 Banding Problems

2007-09-18 by Peter Oksen

Jeff,

I had the similar problem. As far as I remember it was less on matte papers,
but I never really found a solution to using ordinary inks in QTR (MIS inks
in refillable cartridges). I tried underhead cleaning and also cleaning
solutions as I thought I might have a nozzle deflection problem. It didnt
solve it. I now use Paul Roarks 3MK setup and have no banding issues.

best regards,

Peter
