linearization procedure/questions - K6 7500

2007-09-23 by Chuck Behrman

I am attempting to create some profiles for unlisted papers for the Epson 7500
K6 printer
with an Eye-1 spectrophotometer (Mac OS 10.4.10). All QTR related applications
are in a
folder in the Applications folder.

I have successfully created the text output files for the scans.

I am ready to paste the linearization info from the text output file into the
ink description
file.

I used the "K6-HahnePhotoRag" profile (the one I used to print the original 21
step chart).

The first message I got was: printer not defined.

I added the line: PRINTER=Quad7500 and change the GRAPH_CURVE=YES since the
printer
name was not defined.

I get the message: Could not find PPD file for Quad7500.

Where do I go from here?

Am I even using the correct files?

If not, how does one create an Ink Description File?

The printer would be Quad7500-K6 not just Quad7500. You can just drag the
whole 7500-K6 folder from the download to your disk and then use this folder
and Install7500-K6. This script "knows" the printer name by virtue of the
script name.

Make sure you print the stepwedge with a profile without a LINEARIZE line.
Then the measured linearize values are added to the profile. Note the "Raw"
profiles in the folder -- you can use these are starting points.

Thanks Roy--

Adding the "-K6" solved the problem with the missing PPD.

When I printed the stepwedge originally, I used the included HahnePhotoRag curve. Should
I have used the "K6-Raw" curve to print the stepwedge instead?

Thanks,

Chuck

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
