Why does banding vary among ink positions?

Why does banding vary among ink positions?

2007-10-22 by Mark McCarvill

This scan <http://www.stepwise.ca/Calibration.jpg> of the 100%
calibration image, printed at 1440 super, shows essentially no banding in
K or LC, and very little in C. On the other hand, there's
significant banding in Y, with the other positions somewhere in between.
I'm using a 7600, UT7 inks and Entrada Natural paper.

Anyone else experience this? Any ideas why it happens?

Mark

I don't know myself Mark but one of my printers, an R220 has just started to show one or
two bands along the top of the K printout in the QTR calibration page. Never saw it
before. Head alignment changed nothing. Nozzle checks are always good. I usually
profile and print at 2880. While going through the Great Paper Chase I've had a lot of
head strikes on papers that tend to curl at the corners when the end of the sheet passes
through and I'm wondering...

This printer has always been viewed as a sacrificial one for playing but a 7600 is a
different story.

I'd also be interested in any other input.

Robert

This looks very much like clogged jets (or possibly deflected jets).
Try a nozzle check.

Nozzle checks are perfect and I just did a head alignment and verified
the paper thickness was correct.
