I just purchased this and I cannot even find inkseparation.tif to 
create/calibrate a curve.  Maybe I do not even need to do this.  Using 
an Epson R1800?

When you enter "Calibration Mode" from the QTR menu, the Ink Separation 
Tif file should load automatically.

If you are just starting you really don't have to get into this advanced area.
Just select the right printer model, select a curve and try out printing.
If you are using R1800 with Epson inks, use QuadR1800

I thought the ink separation should load automatically also, but it does  
not.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
