quadtone rip and mac os X (tiger)

quadtone rip and mac os X (tiger)

2007-11-09 by arcibombolina

I've just purchased the last release of the software for mac os x
but once installed, i'm not able to create curves on my own
I mean i cannot find something similar to the graphic examples that shows how it works in
windows os :-!
Except for the interface before printing where I can choose preinstalled curves, I'd like to
create and edit them on my own.

Hope you can help me

thx a lot

s.

Unfortunately, there is not graphical utility for the Mac.

There are instructions in the install for creating curves for the Mac
using text files.

There are a number of helpful tutorials in the files section of the
Yahoo Group as well.

Well then, welcome to the group and your wonderful new adventure.

Depending on what you are trying to do, and (of course) what hardware
you are using, there a variety of ways to get from point A to point B.
The instructions for QTR can be quite confusing and overwhelming to a
newcomer. Don't worry, there is definitely a learning curve, but
there are plenty of people here willing to help out.

The best way to get help from this group is to write up a summary of
what you are working with and your goals. Once people know that you
will find no end of helpful voices.

So start here:

You are on a Mac.
	What hardware?
	Which operating system version?

Printer
	Brand and model

Connection
How are you interfacing to your printer?
		USB
		Ethernet
			What protocol
				Appletalk
				TCP/IP
				Bonjour
		Firewire

What paper or papers are you printing on?
Are there existing profiles that come with QTR or are on the files
section of the group for the ink/printer/paper combination you are
using?

If you are looking to make your own curves, what instruments do you
have or have access to?
	Densitometer
	Spectrophotometer

What inks are you using?

What is your desired result?
One printer for color and B&W
	Smoothest possible B&W output
	Toned B&W
	Print Permanence
	Variable tone control

What have you tried before?

Looking forward to helping out and saving you from lots of
unnecessary work and frustration.

James

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
