Linearize & Profile Creation

Linearize & Profile Creation

2007-11-22 by tetontommy

Hello All,
I've been using QTR for a while now, but have just gotten a new 3800 and want to make
custom profiles. By piecing together the various tutorials, I think I'm on the right track, but I
want to check. My problem is in the linearization process.
I printed a 21 step chart and then read values with my Eye One. I end up with a text file. I
dropped text file into QTR-Linearize_Data drop box. Out pops new file. ( this is where I
started experimenting.) Instead of creating a new ink descriptor file ( a process I don't really
understand) I used the .txt file from the profiles folder in QTR for my given printer and
paper. In my case SilverRagNuet.. I pasted the newly generated linearization info into the
SilverRageNeut.txt file replacing the data that was already there. Then I droped my now
updated SilverRagNeut.txt file in Drop-Quad-Profile.
My question is, have I done anything wrong? This is my first go at this. Thanks in advance
for any help.

Happy Thanksgiving
Thomas
