Use of Gray-Lab space-generic gray profile and generated profiles

I have now experimented the new icc generating file... and frankly I do not see the use of the gray-lad space and the generic icc. I have not tested this method vs custom ICC, but I doubt one can then preview the paper white in perceptual rendition. In fact it all depends the way QTR handles ICC and it is my understanding QTR does simply not (e.g. it would be like ticking the "don't color manage" box of an Epson driver leaving the imaging application handling this part). If so then once the custom made ICC is created, converting the file (I am on PC so I need to save a TIFF converted file to my understanding) would both provide soft-proofing and properly map the value so that QTR handles the print of a "color managed" tagged and re-mapped file. Am I correct in this. The PS "print with preview" is a bit more accessible, if it did not exist this is waht I'd be doing for a color print or decide to use as the source the soft-proofed image. Is that what Roy means in his latest information ? Olivier
