margin error on Epson 2400

2008-02-05 by mschenkerhk

Looking for help to bleed problem. QTR will automatically bleed to the
edge of my paper depending on print size and margins.

For instance when printing an image 7.25 x 9 on 8.5 x 11 paper, with
placement clicked on "centered" (top margin of .59), qtr starts
printing at the top edge of my paper (no border). I am running windows
vista, qtr 2.5.2.1. I do not have this problem with 12x15 prints on
13x19 paper. Any ideas?

If you get it printing at the top of a page you mostly do not have the
Paper Feed
selection in QTRgui agreeing with which paper slot you are using.

RE: [QuadtoneRIP] margin error on Epson 2400

Yes, and thanks. Printing Hahnemuhle 188gsm 8.5x11 through the rear feed
creates paper feed recognition problems (with the printing beginning on the
front edge of the paper - borderless), but using the sheet feeder it prints
properly.. So the lesson I guess is to use a sheet feeder with all 8.5x11
paper on an Epson 2400.

Problem with ICCs (long).

2008-02-05 by Mike Johnston

Hi,
I think this is mostly addressed to Mr. Harrington.
I am new and was referred by Paul Roark.
http://www.paulroark.com/BW%2DInfo/

Paul used QTR to generate several .icc files.
I am having trouble reading them.

I am using Windows XP and Photoshop CS3.

I am interested in only '260-Kirkland-Glossy.icc'.
I have tried four programs to open it up on my windows XP system
* Color Darkroom
* ICC Profile Inspector
* Windows
* PhotoMe
All of them give errors trying to read this icc.

I tried unzipping it on a Linux box and there is no difference in
the two files.

I read the ICC 4.2 definition.
I stepped through a program that the ICC supports to read the ICC (iccdump).
I looked at some ICCs that work on my system.

It appears that at least the header is corrupted. Where there should be 0
bytes
there are bytes with a value of 0x20 which is a space character.
The first 4 bytes should be a binary 32 bit big endian integer. The first
two bytes
should have a value of 0, not 0x20.

RE: [QuadtoneRIP] Problem with ICCs (long).

2008-02-06 by Mike Johnston

Hi Roy,
I downloaded the file http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/R260-ICCs.zip
from Paul's web site.
I used Firefox to download the file. I then unzipped it with WinZip.
I also copied the zip file to a Linux (Fedora 8) system using Windows
Explorer and Samba.
I unzipped it on the Linux box (not sure how it did it).
I compared the two unzipped files with cmp and they were identical.

Thanks
Mike J.

2008-02-06 by Roy Harrington

Hi Mike,

Thanks for pointing this all out.
The problem seems to have happened a ways back. Paul checked it out
on his machine and I posted some more info and fixes on the Digital B&W
yahoo group.
