Using QTR with Epson 1400

Using QTR with Epson 1400

2008-06-02 by David

I'm needing to print with dye-based inks, so I'm looking at the Epson
1400 printer.

I see that it is listed as a supported printer, but the QTR website
specifies Eboni inks by MIS for this printer.

I'm assuming, but just want to confirm, that the QTR will work with
this printer even with Epson inks, and that MIS Eboni inks may be
recommended but are not required.

Best, David

I works fine with the 1400, though profiles for a the dyes you use may not
be in the package. The MIS black only curves were actually the 260 curves.
But, they work on the 1400. If you re-make a curve based on the existing
curves, be sure they save in the correct folder. The 260 printer may still
be indicated in the *.quad file. This can be changed with a text editor.

The inkset I put together for MIS for the 1400 is "UT 14" and was just
posted on their web site at
http://www.inksupply.com/ut14_black_and_white.cfm

My write-up of the UT14 inkset is at
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/UT14.pdf

It prints on matte or glossy paper without changing inks, and covers tones
from cool to warm. The 1400 does an excellent black only print with QTR and
MIS Eboni in the K position.
