Epson 1280; MIS UT2 inks; hahnemule pearl; ilford smooth pearl; black blotches

2008-06-03 by julieseltzergirl

Hello all,

I have looked through the threads here and can't find that someone has
posted this.

I am using the above combo, and continue to get black, blotchy areas
where my images are dark grey.

I have been using the Premium Luster (carbon and neutral mixed)
curves, which have this problem the least, but am still getting it.

I am having a very hard time wrapping my head around the curves
creation concept. I tried to create some curves by lowering the ink
limit, but then the entire image loses contrast.

can anyone offer some help? Also, where might I find curves that I can
download for this combo?

thanks much

One more note: I tried to follow the instructions on using the
calibration mode. "cyan", and "magenta" (the cool and warm tones
respectively) are black starting at 75-80. Again, I tried the ink
limits and the entire range got lighter, not just the darkest end.

thanks again in advance.

Well after alot of digging, I found a response to this question that
Paul Roark made in 2005. I changed the media type to glossy film and
that seems to improve things alot.
