QTR-Quadtone RIP

Ok, I am making some progress with my understanding of QTR....slowly.
 I am finding the organization of these instructions to be very
confusing...wish all this was in one A-Z guide.

I have DropQuadProfile working correctly...  And the command
GRAPH_CURVE=YES variable is clever...to show a graphic representation
of the curve.

But I am trying to understand more about QTR.

How are .quad files created????  I can see a lot of earlier profiles
are .txt files, and I am getting a handle on editing and creating
these for my purposes.  I note that a lot of these .quad files are in
the Cone ink sections.  Is this a Cone format? How are these made?
