prints too dark

prints too dark

2005-08-11 by nepenthez05

Hello,

I'm usually using ImagePrint but recently gave QuadtoneRIP a try as
I'm thinking about reusing a few older printers (1160 and 1290s) that
are only collecting dust for BW printing. However, all my prints are
far too dark. Ok, I can adjust the gamma and then it works, but I'm
wondering if I'm doing something wrong.
I tried it for my Epson 2100 and selected the right curves. Of cause
my display is calibrated, so I'm sure the files are fine.
Any help is very welcome.

Bye

Andreas

Hi Andreas.... are you printing at 2880 dpi? Printing at 2880 with a curve that was built at
1440 can darken your print. If you are printing at 2880 and are using a curve that doesn't
have 2880 in its name, i.e., is meant to be printing at 1440, then you should set an ink
limit of -45% in the Quad driver.

Dear Ed,

thanks so much - this made my day.
Printing with 1440 was the way to go. The quality is great now :-)
