QTR and Snow Leopard on Mac

QTR and Snow Leopard on Mac

2009-09-05 by michael_maehrlein

Hello,

does anybody use QTR (newest version) with snow leopard?

I installed snow leopard on my MacPro and then I uninstalled and installed QTR again. Every time when I want to print, an error occurred at the printing queue.

Does anybody know the solution to this problem?

Best regards, Michael

I'm printing OK with Snow Leopard + Photoshop CS3 + QTR 2.6.2 + K7
Piezography curves.

saludos,
jose.

A detailing about my installation:

Before install Snow Leopard, I have the CS3 and the QTR working on a
Epson 7800

Then, I installed Snow Leopard over the old Leopard 10.5.8

Just with this steps my QTR is working.

I only print with K7 Piezography, so I not have make any linearization
to the curves, and I do not know if it's possible in Snow Leopard with
QTR 2.6.2

Saludos,
jose.

Thanks for your reply. Now I uninstalled it again and also delete the two folders /Application/QTR and also /Library/Printer/QTR. But no success! I get always the message "Printer software not installed correctly. Please install the printer software again or ask your manufacturer." I translated it from german.

Can anybody help me? Ideas?

Best regards, Michael

Unfortunately I am having the same issues. i have deleted everything and reinstalled several times.

When my 3800 install for the regular drivers was not working - QTR was fine - now that I installed rosetta and have the 3800 epson driver working - QTR no longer works.

i hope someone can reply with a fix

I've run across some info that may help involving Rosetta and Vuse installers... all this is a bit above my pay grade so can not really explain, though if I upgrade I'll eventually have to address it too.
At any rate, do some googling and you'll find some info, it has to do the older installer applications not running in the newer OS... er somethin'...
Hope there is a solution in there somewhere, check Luminous Landscape

Thanks for the hint of the Luminous Landscape web site. But I already installed Rosetta and then I installed QTR again, but without success! :-(

Does anybody have another idea to fix my problem?

Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Re: QTR and Snow Leopard on Mac

Hi all,

I've been looking at Snow Leopard -- (I've been out of town so haven't
had much testing possibilities). Anyway, it appears that Snow
Leopard has some new file permission requirements. I can fix
this pretty easily. Also most of the OSX programs are 64-bit and
that is not supported yet -- also in the works. You can temporarily
run in 32-bit mode using Get Info. BTW, Photoshop is only 32-bit
so that not a problem.

A new version with permission issues fixed will be out shortly as
soon as I can give it a more thorough testing.

Thanks,
Roy

Thank you for getting to this so quickly.

As for the temporary solution - what is the file we need to change to 32 bit?

I looked at the qtr plugin and other files but not sure which one needs to be changed in Get Info.

thank you

Sorry to have started some confusion. QTR is all in 32-bit.
Many OSX programs are now 64-bit and won't work as 64-bit with QTR.
They can however be changed to 32bit with the Get Info command.

None of this however is going to get around the permission
issue that is stopping Photoshop from working.

CS3 with Snow Leopard and QTR seems to be working except for the
preview function in all print drivers. I have a 3800 and an HP
6500 that I use for quick stuff. WHen I call for preview in any
print driver (happens in word for mac as well) the preview comes up in
Acrobat rather than in Preview and it becomes impossible to
print. I talked to both adobe and apple and they had no solution.
I uninstalled acrobat and preview is not working properly. Looks
like there is a bad call in the snow leopard preview/acrobat dialog.

Re: QTR and Snow Leopard on Mac

I reinstalled QTR and ran the patch (did not uninstall first). QTR runs with CS4 and the Epson 3800, but some profiles, like QTR Grey Matte and Photo, are missing. When I run the Install 3800 UC command to load the profiles, I get this:

*********************************************************************

ALERT! **** QuadToneRIP does not support printer 3800 ****

*********************************************************************

I can print with the RGB Profile, but what do I do to install the rest?

Thanks,
Don

I had a typo. After uninstalling acrobat, preview does work properly and then I can print from preview.
