Using QTR Create ICC for Non-QTR printers

Using QTR Create ICC for Non-QTR printers

2009-12-27 by ScottH

I have a question about using Create-ICC for creating ICC luminance profiles for Non-QTR printers.

I use a printing service to print monochrome images on color paper. I believe they use Lambda printers. The output from neutral RGB images is wonderful however I notice luminance differences especially in the shadows.

I have used the Create-ICC method to correct images when printing from Photoshop to my inkjet but it's not clear how I would use this when sending images to a service.

The service wants my images in AdobeRGB. Would the steps be:

1. Create the ICC profile (which to use QTR-Create-ICC or QTR-Create-ICC-RGB).

2. Convert the RGB image to the ICC profile.
3. Assign to AdobeRGB.
4. Save the image and send to service.

Thank you

Scott

That looks like the right procedure.
Use the QTR-Create-ICC-RGB otherwise you won't be
able to Assign AdobeRGB in (3).

Hi,
first post in a very long time; I may be wrong, but wouldn't it be
the inverse procedure - Assign the created ICC profile to the RGB
image and then Convert it to AdobeRGB to send to the print service? Or
am I missing something?
Best,
Paulo
