Cyan banding problems

Cyan banding problems

2010-01-05 by joe

Another ? plz.
Tried a few tests on what I think is a basic/standard setting.
The first .5 inch has banding and cyan (very slight) mixed in with black then at the last .5 inch same thing.
The unaffected parts are very very nice.
I like it a very much compared to my b&w's printed with ABW and normal photoshop printing with approiate icc's profiles.
Thx again

What printer? What inkset? Which QTR profile? Are you trying to print top/bottom border to border? Banding can be a problem if you start printing at the top/bottom paper margins.

I am using a Epson r2880 with ultrachrome k3 inks.
I used the ucpk-raw-neut profile.
Printing on a roll of epson luster.
In portrait mode.
It started to band at the very 1st .5 inch of the print. With some cyan mixed in the blacks.
Cleared up and looked great. THen the print finished with another small banding at the end.
Thx

Hi there and Happy New Year! to everyone.

I just installed QTR and used it for the first time yesterday. I have the same hardware as Joe, but set on warm and sepia profiles instead of neutral, and noticed the same issues.
Adding to this, the banding occurs in landscape as well, if it makes any difference. Paper is A4 size Harman Gloss FB AL.
Apparently it has a specific distance from the top/bottom border on which this happens.
Will do some tests to check if banding is no longer once I add some a bit more distance in the top and bottom of the paper.

 Marcian
