Printing just one color

Printing just one color

2010-01-06 by spopoviccacak

Hi Everybody, I was wondering if you can help me. I really like this rip and it would be great if I can use it for my application. Actually I need to print white ink on dark paper. I have Epson 2200 with 7 cartridges. Basically I need CMYK and in the rest of them I can put white ink. Is there any way that I can control from which cartridge I can print or if I can use at least light black to put white ink and do printing just from this cartridge. I would really appreciate your help with this issue.
Best regards
Bo Popovic

Bo,

Yes you can put any ink in any channel and print only from that channel with QTR. Of course the ink has to be chemically and physically compatible with the print heads. Tell us more - this is interesting.

The QTR part is simple enough indeed. But does white inkjet ink actually exist? I would be interested as well.

Yes Joost it's out there.. It's often used when printing back lit displays on clear material or of course on dark material. My guess is that it would end up the most used color of the ink set..

Do you have a link? I did some google searches and found of course plenty references to printing with white ink (done so myself with fine art screen, litho and intaglio printing). But I did not found solid white inkjet inks compatible with consumer inkjet printers. I would be concerned about clogging as to my knowledge solid white inks usually are quite heavily loaded with pigments.

Again, do you have a link? I only find textile dye inks for inkjet. If you want to print white on black you'll need a pigment ink.
