QTR and Epson 1160 problem still present

QTR and Epson 1160 problem still present

2005-08-31 by Mike Finley

I gave up using QTR some time ago because of what is for me a major
problem:
QTR (PC version) cannot print very fine straight black vertical lines
(ie along the length of the paper). It produces lines of uneven
thickness, and from the dot pattern appears to be printing at a slight
angle. This was reported and briefly discussed at the time.

I decided I'd give the latest version a try - sadly the problem
persists.

The problem was introduced with the first PC version (not present in
the early Linux versions) and is not seen with other applications I
use to print (Qimage, Photoshop) though I haven't installed and tried
GIMP

I'm not aware of any problems. Could it be your printer being misaligned?
Unidirection printing (HiSpeed = Better) usually helps alignment issues.

As it works fine with Qimage and Photoshop, and has problems only with
QTR I doubt if its alignment (and especially so as at the time I first
reported this in January it also worked fine with QTR on Linux, though
I can't test this now as I no longer have a Linux setup)

I will rerun the alignment tests later

Mike,

Please provide a link to a file that does not print properly so that we can try to help.

Other than printer (not QTR) issues with the leading and trailing edges of the paper, I have no problem printing 1/360\u201d and 2/360\u201d wide vertical lines on a R200 printer.

Best regards,

John Moody

John,
Its not file specific:
as I said in another answer, the same file printed fine from QTR on
Linux in b9 days and failed on the first PC version, as did all sorts
of tests on various width fine lines in shades of dark grey to black,
so if you don't see it on simple tests with fine lines on an R200,
then that printer doesn't have the problem.

Roy,
I've checked the alignment and its fine.

thanks for the responses,
mike
