7880/9880 Curves Uploaded

Hi all, just thought I'd post a note here to say I've uploaded some curves to the files area. I'm busy making some curves for my new 7880 and I thought I would share them.

I print glossy papers with photo black, so that's what's there, seems to be only matte curves shipping with QTR for the 4880/7880/9880, perhaps Roy would like to include these in the distribution?

I have created three curves for Harman FB Al ( soon to be renamed Hahnemuhle Baryta FB in the Harman/Hahnemuhle joint venture ). This is my paper of choice and I'm quite pleased with the curves, I have some more under way for Epson Exhibition Fibre / Traditional Photo Paper which should be done in a few days.

The curves are for standard Ultrachrome K3VM inks on a 7880, so should work perfectly on a 9880 as I understand both these printers are linearized off the production line. I believe the 4880 isn't, but can be brought to base config with the "Colorbase" utility. This may also apply to the 3880 but I don't know much about that printer. They all use the same inks so these curves could potentially be used for all four printers, let me know how you get on if you try them.

I created a standard warm curve using only the Ultrachrome K3 black inks, then a Neutral curve which mimmicks the Epson ABW default mode (albeit with higher DMAX and slightly darker deep shadows), and a slightly cooler version of the neutral curve. All have been linearized with the 51 step wedge (measured three times and averaged).

I've included the curve definition file, the quad file, the linearization measurement files and ICC profiles.

I'd be interested to hear any feedback if you try these curves, let me know how you get on.

This is excellent news! i was madly trying to find some photoblack profiles for UCVM inks as 7800 curves dont really apply because of different magenta ink i guess.
Thank you!
I am actually using canson baryta photographique and canson platine fibre rag, Do you think these curves could do? I understand that papers are really similar as of white point.

Hello, did you get a chance to work up the curves for the Epson Exhibition fiber? If so I would greatly appreciate it if you could post them in the files section.

Sincerely
Paul Caldwell
