Templates for Epson's R-2400

Templates for Epson's R-2400

2005-09-02 by Bill

Greetings:

I am new to the QTR and have an Epson R-2400 printer running on a PC.
I am using version 2.3.0 of the QTR.

I have been following instructions that came with the QTR and have
gotten to the part where it is suggested to "Load a Template", page
17. When I look in the Profiles folder I do not find a folder for the
R-2400 but there is one for the R-4800 which has 4 profiles listed.
Cool, CoolSe, Sepia, and Warm.

Because the 2400 and the 4800 both use the same ink set (K3), can I
use these profiles as a Template? Or should I wait until the 2400
profiles are developed by someone who knows what they are doing?

Thanks in advance.

The section of the user guide you are referring to is related to creating
new curves. I suspect you would only want to try printing at this point,
using existing curves. Unfortunately there is not a printer model or curves
in my distribution of QTR, which I think is the latest. I don't think the
4800 printer model and curves will work for the 2400.

I think you'll have to wait for a future (hopefully next) release.

I guess I will have to wait until someone adds Templates for the R-
2400. Thanks for your response.

I have another question for you.

Because the R-2400 has three black (gray)inks in use at one time, will
the "ink separation test page" have all three? (Black, Light Black and
Light Light Black)

Thanks,

Bill L.

Bill

I can't speak for QTRs author (Roy Harrington) but I am quite sure that
there will have to be an ink separation test page that prints each of the
inks of the 2400. That is fundamental to the design of QTR.

Hopefully it will still fit on 1/2 of a letter size page. That is very
convenient.
